About the Author
Before retiring to travel the world and write fiction, Oslo Meko was a consultant geriatric psychiatrist with the Vancouver Coastal and Fraser Health Authorities, and a clinical professor of psychiatry at the University of British Columbia. He obtained his first medical degree from the University of Ibadan in Nigeria, followed by his graduate training and specialization at the University of Ottawa. Oslo’s passion for travel, reading, chats with strangers, foreign affairs, and football—the worldwide version—informs his writing.
Oslo Meko lives in Vancouer with his spouse. His first novel, The Kissing Psychiatrist, was published in 2020.
About the Book
Warren Wilcox, as a child, develops antipathy toward everything Nigerian when he learns about the rejection of his Canadian family by his Nigerian grandfather. As a physician, he works tirelessly in his pursuit of bettering the world. While volunteering in Sierra Leone, Warren visits Nigeria, an experience that only solidifies his feelings of alienation from his Nigerian heritage.

He meets and falls in love with Kairi, a lawyer of mixed Japanese and Canadian descent, a women’s rights activist who shares his goal of advocating for the disadvantaged. They settle in Vancouver and, in their own ways, continue to work for the rights of the less privileged, Warren as a deputy registrar of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia, overseeing its ethical and social responsibility program and Kairi as a human rights lawyer.

When Kairi leaves Warren to live in Tokyo, it devastates him emotionally, professionally and occupationally. Then he meets Yinka, a lawyer of mixed ethnic heritage, who introduces him to the world of Nigerian immigrants in Canada. This exposure to other facets of Nigeria and Nigerians, especially their contributions to society, encourages him to explore further his Nigerian roots. This newfound perspective renews Warren’s ambition and with Yinka's support and help from his long-term friend, Douglas, he embarks on a successful fight for the integration of foreign medical graduates into the healthcare system.
About the Book
Hector and Maria are young Argentine physicians happily in love with others until forced into an arranged marriage. They try to make it work however medical residency in France, old and new lovers introduce new challenges to their fragile relationship. The entrance of Serena, a death obsessed young Canadian that Hector met on a Safari, into their life threatens Hector's career as a psychiatrist as he faces charges of engaging in an untoward relationship with a patient. The ensuing disciplinary process brings Hector and Mariah closer and while Serena develops a desire for life.
